South Korea

Most of the scenes in the series were taken in various locations in South Korea. Considering that filming in North Korea’s virtually impossible, the scene where Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin’s characters departed on a train for PyongYang, as well as their arrival at the PyongYang train station, were all shot somewhere in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia instead.
